Today’s Topic: Book Funnels & Tech Layoff’s. Using a Book to Secure Your Position

There were at least 154,000 layoffs from more than 1,000 tech companies last year, according to Layoffs.fyi, a website that has been tracking tech layoffs since March 2020.

Google alone just let go 12,000 employees. Amazon let go of 18,000, Microsoft 10,000, 11,000 at Meta, 8,000 at Salesforce, and many more have followed suit, like Twitter (3,700), Uber, Cisco (4,100), Caravan (4,000), Peloton, booking.com, Airbnb, Instacart, Wayfair, Capital One, and so many more. What’s going on?

Many believe this has something to do with massive hiring at the height of covid and all the lockdowns. Amazon gained 800,000 employees between 2020-21, while google gained 52,000, Meta gained 27,000, Microsoft gained 58,000. First, let me say that I hope you are holding up during this time. I pray daily in hopes we all return to a wonderful new norm on the other side of this global shut down.

It’s really not the norm to be talking about pricing for publishing a book…or really any business services for that matter! But, I want to talk with you about what often stops people from taking the dive into any business venture…”Yeah, that all sounds great, but what is it going to cost me?”

So… we have a lot of time on our hands and if we can get right with ourselves in this strange time it’s a perfect time to write a book...because we have time! And if fear or emotions are high...well this can be great too! Writing can be very therapeutic!

Not all of us have the gift of alone time right now as kids and spouses may be home and your normal routine and quiet time is hindered. But, if you’ve found a new normal and have now found yourself with some extra time you may have begun perusing the internet for the right method or coach or program to get you started on writing your book.

I can tell you that I’m very well aware of the other coaching systems out there and I’m also very well aware of what they are selling and the carrots they are dangling in front of you to get your business. I’m also aware that my appeal as a coach isn’t flashy sales or false promises. I’m a seeker of truth and...

Well… we’ve figured out we are inside a bit longer than a few days. How much journaling have you been doing? How much deep thinking or meditating have you been doing? What have you accomplished in all things self-growth or new business initiatives? If you are any kind of entrepreneur you know this time is a tremendous gift…an opportunity to get ahead!

For me, I’ve made tremendous steps forward in my business in this time. And, I’m truly excited about it! 

But, when it comes to producing a podcast as a regular part of your communication during a worldwide pandemic its almost impossible to know where to start gabbing! You wonder as a content generator if there could possibly be anything meaningful that one could say other than…it’s going to be ok…and having proof that it really will. 

So, if you generate content without heart and compassion you might be viewed as cold and not focused...

We are all going through a major shift in our human consciousness. We are raw and scared and exhausted and questioning life as we once knew it. We are busy thinking about yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Our minds are full and we suddenly have found some extra time on our hands. 

If you are like me you have run through every set of emotions and run in circles trying to figure out which direction to go with all that is going on in our world. Personally, I am very empathic and have had a very hard time re-finding my balance listening to the news and after our 5.7 earthquake here in Utah. I wasn’t even sure how to find my thoughts again for my next podcast and was lacking focus on my business. We all have our own story for how we are coping and how we are finding our strength. Our time is being spent differently. Things are all shaken up. How are you using this time?

Strange perhaps to think something so devastating could prove to be positive, right?

If you are forced to stay home, unable to go out, and get pulled out of a daily routine you’re going to have to look at some things you might not have looked at in awhile…those little spider webs in your closets so to speak. 

You might have to find something new eat, care for your kids, spend time with a partner, workout at home or walk outside, stop hiding from your neighbor, clean your house, or otherwise reinvent yourself in some way in order to cope with what’s happening in the world and it’s effects on your life.

The gift of quiet reflection. So much can be gained personally, professionally, and spiritually when we have down time to re-focus!
