Today’s Topic: Book Cover Mistakes & Lessons - There’s Far More to the Cover Than Meets the Eye!

OK first off I’m gonna just spill the beans! I just got fired! I’ve been doing all things book for a long time and I’m fine making myself vulnerable for both of us to learn. I’m good at what I do, but occasionally I’m just not a fit for someone. I have no hard feelings so don’t get me wrong. Not all relationships are bliss.

Since my client fired me I think its pretty safe to say we can talk about what went wrong without doing any harm. In other words, I don’t think she’s tuning into my podcast! And, I can share some lessons she and I both learned in the process so this kind of thing doesn’t happen to you in the future!

Today’s Topic: Writing a Legacy Book - Outlasting Web & Tech

There is one thing for sure that tech will never outdo - leave a lasting legacy! All things tech come and go… whether that is a quick instagram post, a social media page, or a website. They all get dated or obsolete at some point. And, I tell you this as someone that has an MBA in Technology Management. I’m not afraid of tech but I also know where the limitations are.

Have you ever gotten into a place where you weren’t sure if you were offering enough, not sure if you were sharing your true message, if you were misunderstood, you tried to make amends of something but maybe weren’t sure you hit the mark, or you wonder if you are even even being heard?

Let’s be honest, when you are a content creator you try to offer what people want to hear and you look at stats and what draws people into your world and when you find that thing they are interested in you create more of it....

I’m not whatever it is everyone needs me to be in every direction. After many years of criticism I’ve come out the other side with a stronger, healthier opinion of myself. I’ve decided to take the criticism as a compliment! 

The way I see it is I’m viewed as capable of much more than I realize. To everyone else I’m the one that should step up, stand out, and do that thing everyone else is missing in their life! I got talking with a client the other day—she approached me to help her layout and design her book. As I talked to her she was telling me about all the psychic mediums that told her she was supposed to be writing a book and she would be a bestseller. She told me that she knew she was supposed to be on stage speaking. It was as if she was me speaking 10 years ago. I sat in yoga classes and in meditation for years hearing much the same.

I put so much pressure on myself to achieve the lofty goal of writing a book—with the idea that it was my fate and aligned with the stars for some great purpose—so much pressure that almost didn’t write!
