SPECIAL: Author Interview - Joanne Holbrook

Nicole (00:17):

Today we have a special author interview. I worked with Joanne earlier this year on her book, Your Passport to Parenting: Wisdom From Around the World to Help Build Happy Families. I've invited authors I've worked with over the years to join me in a new series of shows where I will be interviewing them as we talk about what their book is about, how the book has helped them personally or professionally, what it has done for them and where they are now. The thing I love about doing these interviews the most is really getting to know my clients and of course, sharing them with the world because honestly, I love them all. I'm definitely my client's biggest fan. So let me introduce you to Joanne Holbrook.

Joanne Holbrook is a mother of two and spouse of a United States army officer. She has lived and raised her family in South Africa, England, Germany, Australia, and across the United States. Born in South Africa and living half her life under the...

033 - How Much Does It Cost To Self Publish A Book?

corona virus costs Apr 12, 2020

Hey Guys! Nicole Gabriel here!

First, let me say that I hope you are holding up during this time. I pray daily in hopes we all return to a wonderful new norm on the other side of this global shut down.

It’s really not the norm to be talking about pricing for publishing a book…or really any business services for that matter! But, I want to talk with you about what often stops people from taking the dive into any business venture…”Yeah, that all sounds great, but what is it going to cost me?”

Writing a book is an investment. You need to know that up front. It’s an investment of time and money to produce it and it’s a lifetime worth of self promotion if you want to sell it or the products and services it represents.

You don’t just write a book and people find you…you have to find them. And you have to know your why behind writing it. When I start talking costs your going to learn very quickly why I stress over and over the...

032 - Writing A Book to Pivot Your Business

corona virus strategy Apr 04, 2020

Hey Guys! Nicole Gabriel here!

So… we have a lot of time on our hands and if we can get right with ourselves in this strange time it’s a perfect time to write a book...because we have time! And if fear or emotions are high...well this can be great too! Writing can be very therapeutic!

Not all of us have the gift of alone time right now as kids and spouses may be home and your normal routine and quiet time is hindered. But, if you’ve found a new normal and have now found yourself with some extra time you may have begun perusing the internet for the right method or coach or program to get you started on writing your book.

I can tell you that I’m very well aware of the other coaching systems out there and I’m also very well aware of what they are selling and the carrots they are dangling in front of you to get your business. I’m also aware that my appeal as a coach isn’t flashy sales or false promises. I’m a seeker of truth and...

031 - Using This Down Time to Birth Your Book

corona virus inspiration Mar 27, 2020

Hey guys! Nicole Gabriel here!

Well… we’ve figured out we are inside a bit longer than a few days. How much journaling have you been doing? How much deep thinking or meditating have you been doing? What have you accomplished in all things self-growth or new business initiatives? If you are any kind of entrepreneur you know this time is a tremendous gift…an opportunity to get ahead!

For me, I’ve made tremendous steps forward in my business in this time. And, I’m truly excited about it!

But, when it comes to producing a podcast as a regular part of your communication during a worldwide pandemic its almost impossible to know where to start gabbing! You wonder as a content generator if there could possibly be anything meaningful that one could say other than…it’s going to be ok…and having proof that it really will.

So, if you generate content without heart and compassion you might be viewed as cold and not focused...

030 - There Is No Greater Time Than Now To Write A Book!

corona virus inspiration Mar 21, 2020

We are all going through a major shift in our human consciousness. We are raw and scared and exhausted and questioning life as we once knew it. We are busy thinking about yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Our minds are full and we suddenly have found some extra time on our hands.

If you are like me you have run through every set of emotions and run in circles trying to figure out which direction to go with all that is going on in our world. Personally, I am very empathic and have had a very hard time re-finding my balance listening to the news and after our 5.7 earthquake here in Utah. I wasn’t even sure how to find my thoughts again for my next podcast and was lacking focus on my business. We all have our own story for how we are coping and how we are finding our strength. Our time is being spent differently. Things are all shaken up. How are you using this time?

Maybe you are using this time to re-align with a better future, taking classes, or updating your...

029 - Gifts of the Coronavirus?

corona virus Mar 16, 2020

Strange perhaps to think something so devastating could prove to be positive, right?

If you are forced to stay home, unable to go out, and get pulled out of a daily routine you’re going to have to look at some things you might not have looked at in awhile…those little spider webs in your closets so to speak.

You might have to find something new eat, care for your kids, spend time with a partner, workout at home or walk outside, stop hiding from your neighbor, clean your house, or otherwise reinvent yourself in some way in order to cope with what’s happening in the world and it’s effects on your life.

The gift of quiet reflection. So much can be gained personally, professionally, and spiritually when we have down time to re-focus!

Have you put off learning something new? Growing your business? Taking a class? Learning about a new diet or even fasting? Have you always wanted to build something or learn to knit? Or what about writing a book? ...

028 - Remaining Steadfast & Persistent

limiting beliefs Mar 13, 2020

Hi Guys! Perhaps a more somber show today…I guess I’m supposed to be entertaining you, giving you some flashy content and fun noises and chatter to uplift and motivate you… but I’m always one to share where I’m at…in my truth. So here it goes…

In my many years as a kundalini yoga practitioner and teacher we are made aware that commitment builds character. When you begin to bring the diligence of the practice into your daily life and you crawl out of bed every morning before sunrise and sit on your mat you wonder why you’re leaving that cozy warm bed and if you’ve lost your mind.

I’ve been getting up before sunrise for many years and I’ve worked my way through tremendous challenges just to be present for myself on that mat. There is nothing worse than having health or life challenges and still getting there and showing up. Blowing your nose with a cold, a belly ache, a broken heart, a sore...
